어린 시절 들었던 전래동화 속 여인들의 결말들, 그것이 정말로 해피엔딩일까.
한국인이라면 누구든지 심청, 춘향, 바리공주에 대해서 알고 있을 것이다. 이 들은 한국 구전설화의 대표적인 여성 아이콘들이다. 설화 속에 나타나는 여성들의 삶, 여정.
그리고 무엇보다도 이 이야기들의 결말들은 기구 하기 짝이 없지만, 우리는 어린 시절부터 이것들을 행복한 결말이라 교육받았다.
여성이기에 겪어야 했던 그들 존재에 대한 사회적인 부정들, 해피엔딩이라 강요되는 결말의 폭력, 그리고 이 이야기들의 공통적인 코드 ‘한’에 대해 이야기 하고자 한다.
The endings of women in old traditional stories we used to hear when we were kids, are those really happy endings?
All Koreans know the stories of Shimchung, Chunhyang, and Princess Bari. They are classic female icons of Korean traditional stories. Although the lives of those women and the endings of the stories are truly unfortunate, we were told that those stories are happy endings since when we were little. Three illustrations here tells about the social denials of existence they had to experience because they were women, the violence of endings forced to be happy endings, and the common code of these stories, the “Han”.
